yay i'm back. Okay, I won't get into detail with the friggin' orientation, but all i can say is that it was alright, and I didn't make it as fun as I should have. i don't know, I think I was just not in the whole "meet-new-people" state. But I did meet some new people, and i was surprised how people from everywhere actually want to go to UCLA. There were people from like Texas and Maryland who are attending UCLA. I never knew UCLA was that popular.
Okay, got my classes, which took like 5 hours to plan out. GAHHHH. But anyway, I'm going to be taking English Comp 3, Linguistics: Intro to the Study of Language, and also Earth Sciences with Field Work. Hope these classes are fun! I wanted to take other classes like Women Studies, Philosophy of Contemporary Moral Issues, or Origins of Christianity, Judaism and Islam or like History of China but all were filled up and had bad times. Oh well.
L.A. was surprisingly nice and cool and wasn't even hot. I was kinda cold wtih my light jacket. OH yeah, and I lost my room key and had to pay $20 bucks for a new one. NOOOOOOOO. That just sucks.
After orientation, I had some good food with my clone, dad and cousin. We ate at this chinese restaurant called Jade. We had geoduck, clams, toad, some baby bok choy and of course rice. MAN good seafood. The total came out to like 60 bucks =/. yeah, geoduck is sooo expensive but oh so worth it.
I've noticed that L.A. Chinese restaurants have A LOT more dishes than restaurants here in SJ. I mean I don't ever see dishes of toad anywhere and hardly geoduck anymore. Our restaurant even stopped selling geoduck. But I realized that's only cuz of the taste of the customers that go to these restaurants. YEAHHH that's very true. I doubt any of our customers would ever eat toad stew. But hey, I still like East Lake food and am going to miss it a lot when i go to l.a. =( So I guess L.A. restaurants have more foods, and a lot more authentic chinese fast food places that are totally better than panda express.
AAHH i'm gonna get the freshmen 15 for sure. UCLA has great food, and is actually 2nd to Cornell's in the nation. UCLA is surprisingly first in a lot of things. And I love how they rival against USC and their slogan of "A trojan is only good once, but a bruin lasts FOREVER". Oh, how clever.
